Tradition is something John and I have so little of. From moving around from place to place, to doing different things each year. My family has quite a few of them, especially for holidays. Thanksgiving time is always going up to my nan's for dinner and then to my nan Crooks' for supper (so we dared not attempt to fill up at one place). Christmas around my folks has been also traditional. We'd have Christmas Eve dinner at my nan's house with the whole family, or just those who decided to come up for the day. Usually you would see people you hadn't seen in quite a while. Aunts, Uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and the occasional dog would come to visit. Then it was off with full stomachs to home where we open ONE present that night. Then we stayed up and watched the 24 hour Christmas Story on TBS or at least finish the one that was already on. HEHE!!! Then it's off to bed or Santa won't come. Awww Christmas Day!!! Up in the morning, stirring around, waiting to hear the coffee pot and to smell the aroma of it. Sitting around the Christmas tree waiting for mom to come with her cup of coffee and the camera. Ok we're ready!! Let's open presents. Around 10 everyone starts to get ready to go to nan Crooks' for Christmas dinner, where we filled up on more turkey and ham and sweets and presents. More Aunts and Uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. And yes the occasional dog would come.
So sticking with another tradition I just learned about.. hair cuts!! My Aunt Jackie has been cutting hair since I can remember and before then. Starting with her 2 daughters, Amanda and Taylor, she apparently has started the tradition to give the girls' first hair cut in the family. My sister did it with her daughter Morgan. And so I have followed in tradition. Last Sunday Rylie received her first hair cut. Even though it was just her bangs she looks a lot better. Next time we'll get it trimmed in the back. And we all know how hard it is to cut bangs with a little one so Jackie had to redo them a couple times over. Still looks better than hair in her pretty little face. Apparently the tradition for the boys in the family, they go to the local barber shop to get their first hair cut done by Punch. Since I don't have a boy, I can't hardly follow that tradition but would hope to if we did have a little man.
